High Impact Productions Celebrates 20 Years

Here’s the press release from our 20th anniversary announcement:

High Impact Productions Celebrates 20 Years of Community Impact & Entertainment
Local entertainment company looks to the future after 20 successful years.

TRAVERSE CITY, MI, August 17, 2016 — This year marks High Impact Productions’ 20th anniversary of offering high-quality, philanthropic entertainment to audiences in Northern Michigan and beyond. Since 1996, the company has been working tirelessly to support the community through musical performance, fund-building and awareness, and voiceover work.

Under the direction of owner, Judy Harrison, High Impact Productions (HIP) delivers events and entertainment that create positive impact. Their flagship event—SwingShift and the Stars, Dance-off for Charity—is entering its 12th season this Fall and, since its inception in 2008, has raised over $2 million for 66 charities across the Traverse Bay (TC area) and Great Lakes Bay (Midland, Bay City, Saginaw area) regions. While ticket prices and sponsorships cover the operational costs of each event, all donations go directly to the participating charities. “It’s not about the dollar figure that each charity raises but what impact that donation has on the organization. A $15,000 donation to a smaller or recently-formed charity may end up having just as much impact as a $100,000 donation to an established, staff-run charity,” explains Harrison.

The upcoming year will mark a further milestone as SwingShift and the Stars looks to expand to support new charities in other areas within Michigan. “We have a philanthropic attitude toward everything we do,” says Harrison. “We are passionate about sharing our talents to support Michigan’s communities and are currently looking at other possible locations for future SwingShift and the Stars events.” The company is currently seeking input from Lansing, suburban Detroit and other Michigan-area contacts to help determine those locations most demonstrating community need.

HIP’s reach goes beyond the SwingShift and the Stars dancing events. The company’s two bands—SwingShift (an elite 10-piece big band) and ReBooted (a high-energy country and classic rock band)—make regular appearances at the Stars events and entertain audiences at public festivals and corporate dates across Michigan. When not singing with either of the bands, or working with the HIP team to coordinate the next season of Stars, Judy Harrison takes her talents beyond the stage with her professional voiceover work.

“Over the past 20 years, we have learned so much about how we can help within our community,” says Harrison. “Given the success of our Stars events and our belief in making an impact, we are so excited to see what the next 20 will bring!” Watch for the HIP team to announce their upcoming Fall season of SwingShift and the Stars at their August 18th Season Reveal media event.
