On a quest to breathe fresh air and unique energy into the world of event fundraising in our community, Judy Harrison prayed, plotted and produced!

In the early summer of 2008, she asked a few local celebrities if they would buy-in to an idea she had brewing, and within 2 weeks, Swingshift and the Stars was born! She didn’t know if it would last one year or five.

As it would turn out, grouping multiple nonprofit organizations together under one roof, having local celebrities perform with and in front of their peers for a five-month season of fundraising, created 15 years of PURE GOLD!

  • 122 nonprofit organizations,
  • $4.3+ million raised by nonprofits for nonprofits
  • 9 (maybe more?) show format tweaks, retools and pivots
  • 54,600 volunteer hours
  • 131 “celebrity performers”
  • and too many costume malfunctions later

Judy and the SwingShift and the Stars team are left with nothing but a million wonderful memories and hearts full of gratitude for “that time the whole community gathered to make giving shine brightest”!
