SWINGSHIFT AND THE STARS SECOND LIP SYNC BATTLE RAISES ALMOST $74,600
bringing the season totals to over $438,315! Folks from all over the Traverse Bay Region gathered on Friday Dec14th at the City Opera House to watch four of the eight fabulous nonprofits compete in a lip sync battle. All performance teams rocked their numbers! Here are the bank verified results of the money earned in alphabetical order:
▪ Arts for All ~ championed by the Golden Fowler Home Furnishings and again represented by Derek Woodruff, Grace Hudson and a few A4A artists. They performed their hearts out and now have $36,774 in their Fifth Third Bank account. This includes $1,925 awarded to them for securing the Alumni Award by earning the highest judges’ scores.
▪ Michael’s Place ~ championed by Clark Manufacturing and represented on the “battle” floor by Angela DiLorenzo (AKA Joan Jett) and her band the Black Hearts kicked the night off strong and brought their account balance up $58,511!
▪ TC Christian School ~ championed by Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors and represented by five TCCS students, 5th through 12th grade, now boasts $117,800 from their participation in SwingShift and the Stars. This total includes the $1,000 Audience Choice Award.
▪ Zonta Club of TC ~ championed by REMAX/Bayshore is thrilled to now have $27,701! Deb Jackson (AKA Annie Lennox) and Debbie Dacey (AKA Aretha Franklin) teamed up with their Zonta sisters and strutted their stuff to Sisters Are Doing It for Themselves.
The performance piece for the eight nonprofit organizations on the SwingShift and the Stars platform is over, but the fund-raising is NOT! All eight organizations and their champion sponsors will reconvene on Jan 10th from 1-2pm at the City Opera House to receive their “big checks” as a season wrap-up celebration. This event is open to the public and ALL MEDIA is strongly encouraged to attend.
Since 2008, SwingShift and the Stars has been helping Michigan nonprofit organizations build funds and raise awareness. Having hosted 14 seasons across the Traverse Bay and Great Lakes Bay regions, SwingShift and the Stars has provided 101 opportunities for Michigan nonprofits to grow. Over $3.5 million dollars has been raised thus far, 100% of which went directly to the nonprofits for their critical missions in our communities.
